2018: NLEX Road Warriors Basketball Clinic (Kawit)
NRW Goes South for Free Basketball Clinic
Last October 20, young athletes from the South had a chance to improve their skills after going through the basketball camp spearheaded by the NLEX Road Warriors at the Tangulan Arena, Kawit Cavite. With the PBA Superstar and now NRW’s Assistant Coach Jojo “Jolas” Lastimosa as the overall camp director, the participants didn’t miss their chance in learning from the best and proving that they have a shot in becoming one of the best in the said sport. Before starting the drills and exercises, NRW’s Head Coach, Yeng Guiao, gave an inspirational message for the campers. As per Coach Yeng, it is a privilege for him and for the whole team that they get to share their talent and knowledge to aspiring basketball athletes. “Kung pangarap mong maging magaling na basketball player, simulan mo na ng sipag at ibigay mo palagi ang best mo,” said by Coach Yeng as he delivered his opening message. To kickstart the training camp, Coach Jolas gave out some warm up drills before dividing the group into teams. Each team were then distributed per station and had a chance to perform each course – from basic stretching and cool down exercises, circuit movement training, ball passing drills, and dribbling exercises. These stations were led by other coaches and NRW Players Mac Tallo, Juami Tiongson, Fonzo Gotladera and Ken Ighalo. Aside from the inspiring messages and basketball tips that the participants got from the camp, some lucky campers took home basketballs and shirts as part of the raffle. As a token of appreciation to the LGU of Kawit for being the venue partner for this event, a basketball signed by the NLEX Road Warriors Coaches and Players was handed over to Engr. Jonathan Jarin,
Municipal Engineer of Kawit, Cavite. Also gracing the event are MPTS AVP for Communications and Stakeholder Management, MS. Arlette Capitrano, and MPTS AVP for Human Resources, Ms. Sigrid Shun. The NLEX Road Warriors Basketball clinic is envisioned to serve as a venue to promote values such as teamwork, discipline and portsmanship to the participants and develop homegrown talents from various areas in the country. In this leg of the camp, they were accommodated by Metro Pacific Tollways South- a business unit of Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation.
