Nori to his friends, was a student-athlete in the
University of Santo Tomas in his collegiate years.
With his talent of playing table tennis, Nori was
given a full-scholarship that helped him finished his
education and aleviate his parents financial
obligation to support his education. His parents did
not need to pay his tuition fees and other expenses.
Good opportunities also came knocking to his doors
when Nori was hired in MPT South. He had a chance
to play table tennis in the company’s 2017 MVP
Olympics and won a Bronze Medal. By playing Table
Tennis, he learned so many things including
patience, discipline and passion for what he is doing,
three qualities that a modern-day sports hero has. I
asked him to share some personal stories that made
him the person he is now because of his sport, and
his response was, “During my training, even when
I’m tired I can’t stop what I’m doing because there is
always a goal to finish. It became a habit for me and
I think I’m applying it in everything I do now. My
mindset now is to finish the goal before I rest.”
Jeff, on the other hand, was a member of
Philippine Bowling Team and has won several
competitions here and abroad including the World
Cup National Finals in 2008. It has given him
utmost respect he never expected by beating the
best bowlers in the country. He also represented
the Philippines in the world’s most prestigious
bowling tournament, The Bowling World Cup. At
his age, he has achieved most of his personal goals
including winning medals for the country but he
still competes in winning more medals along with
winning new friends. When asked what he felt
when he was representing the country? He said,
“At first, I was so nervous, but eventually, I felt the
excitement and pride donning the Philippine flag
on my jerseys and apparel. Nothing can replace
the feeling of representing the Philippines during
competition, having fellow countrymen cheering
and supporting you everywhere in the world.”
