MPT South’s
Sports Heroes
By Jonah Pereyra, Human Resources and Administration
We celebrate the National Hero’s Day every fourth Monday of August. Just
a little trivia, National Hero’s day was celebrated every 30th of November
to commemorate the birth of Andres Bonifacio. But it was moved to the
fourth Monday of August to pay tribute to all the known and unknown
heroes who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of our country.
Young people today may know our heroes through history books and
pictures that they have seen on the internet. Today, there are modern day
heroes that we looked up to like Manny Pacquiao. He came from a poor
background that led him to join boxing contests. At a very young age,
boxing helped his family earn extra money to support their daily living.
Just like Manny Pacquiao, MPT South has its own modern-day sports
heroes, Norielle Pantoja and Jeffrey Carabeo.
