In April 28, 2018, twenty-three Metro
Pacific Tollways South employees hiked
Mt. Batulao at Nasugbu, Batangas. The
hiking is the first event under the new
Health and Wellness Program, “Get Fit,
Have Fun Wellness Leisure Events” that
includes a health and wellness workshop,
aqua aerobics, and mental wellness.
Employees from different departments
met as early as 3:30am. By 6:30am all were
set and ready to go with medicine kits and
trail food. The event started with a prayer
and stretching. Rod Sicapore, head of
Security Operations, led the hiking. At first,
everyone was laughing a loud and giggling.
Later, everyone was doing some acrobatics
just to reach the next peak and seemed to
appear exhausted not only because of the
hiking but also due to the hot weather.
The hikers reached the summit of Mt. Batulao
and returned to the base camp for almost five
hours or 11 kilometers. The struggle is real but
worth it, the view of the mountain is just so
prefect. The hikers had lunch and pictures
taken at the mountain peak to appreciate the
view.
Hiking is not just for any one’s health and
wellness. It also builds camaraderie where
everyone extends a help to those in need,
especially during the difficult parts of the trail.
But the best part is the sharing of food and
drinks during the journey!
After a dead and tiring day, the hiker headed to
Royale Tagaytay for a scrumptious buffet. Nothing
caps a good meal but good conversation with
fellow hikers.
