Sourcing for Good
Buys on Undas
By Obella Marie Ronsairo, Supply Chain and Risk Management
When the halloween wave subsides, we get
ready for the commemoration of the dead.
Filipinos usually honor the dead around October
31 to November 2. Families and friends go to the
cemeteries to spend the days with their
departed loved ones. It is where we remember
and reminisce the times when they are still with
us.
Filipinos are identified to have a lot of
superstitions and tradition in a lot of things in
life –money, wealth, children, animals, and even
death. Rooted deep within our values, we have a
unique way of celebrating the departed.
Because of this, some enterprising Filipinos
would set up a mini store at the cemetery where
people visiting the cemetery can buy, candles,
flowers and even food to have at least a small
amount of income.
Flowers and Candles, aside from food, are one of
the most frequently bought items during Undas
since this are necessities when we visit our
departed loved ones. But last minute buys can
be qyuite expensive. To source for value for
money, buy in Cavite like RCJC Flower Shop
located at Tagaytay City, where one can buy
bouquets and sets of flowers for different
occasions.
And for candles, Vayao Wax Manufacturing
offers a cheaper price rather that the market
since they are a manufacturing company, it is
located at Imus, Cavite.
