The Metro Pacific Tollways South Story By MPT South President and CEO J. Luigi L. Bautista
NEW PROJECTS:
We were able to resurrect projects that were either shelved or
abandoned.
1. C5 South Link
2. Segment 4 Extension
3. Segment 5 Alternative (even longer than the original)
C5 South Link
Then, MPTC (Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation) won the bid for
CALAEX. Shortly, thereafter, we became MPT South having
consolidated CIC and MPCALA Holdings. And recently, MPTC/MPT
South was awaiting “Original Proponent Status” for CTBEX. That
would soon count as the 3rd concession under the belt of MPT
South.
ENHANCEMENT PROJECTS WERE PLANNED AND PIPELINE OF PROJECTS:
EXECUTED: Apart from CTBEX, we have a pipeline of projects, to name a few:
1. Heavy Maintenance of R1 – done Canlubang Expressway
2. TCS Migration – done Molino Link
3. Heavy Maintenance Program in place – done CALAEX-MCX
4. New Perimeter Fencing – substantially complete CALAEX-Carmona
5. R1 Lane Widening – ongoing Southern Batangas Expressway
And many more..such as the C5 Expressway and Port Expressway,
6. MLT Flyover – ongoing submitted as unsolicited proposals, jointly with NLEX to the DPWH.
7. Pacific Drive Resurfacing – next year We are also looking at the Quezon-Bicol Expressway or QuBEx.
8. Bridge Widening (3 bridges) in R1 – next year
9. Toll Plaza Expansion – to be started in June 2018 We are also building the MPT South Headquarters, a modern facility
and complex, which will be operational towards the end of the
second quarter next year.
So many things in the works..
Can I make a confession? When I was being assigned to the South,
there was a bit of reservation, in fact rancor in my heart because I
worked hard in NLEX and to be transferred to a 14km road that was
deep in debt and had a history of controversies was for me a curse
than a blessing. Instead of a reward, I was given a punishment, or so I
thought. Pero sumunod pa rin ako bilang isang empleyado.
After more than 5 years, MPT South is on track with its growth
pattern..on track to follow the NLEX lead..on track to be a major
contributor to the progress of Laguna, Cavite and Batangas.
The MPT South dream has been to grow in revenue and km
coverage in 10 years’ time. If today, our revenue is 1.5 billion with
14km; in about 10 years, the dream is to grow that to 6 billion or
more, and create a network that will be about 250km! A big
challenge, but a challenge that MPT South has embraced and
determined to achieve. MPT South is destined to be a company that
will go from good to great!
While I may not be there when you achieve the MPT South dream
many years down the road, I will be on the sidelines cheering you on.
I will feel proud for you when the time comes.
Sa puntong ito, nais ko lamang sabihin na bagaman hindi ako
perpekto bilang isang pinuno, buo pa rin ang inyong naging
suporta. Isang malaking bagay na aking ipinagpapasalamat. Kaya,
maraming maraming salamat sa inyong suporta at pang-unawa!
Tuloy ang laban!
Mabuhay ang MPT South! MPT South tayo – magaling, masipag, at
matibay!
